  1. I backed up numerous DVDs to SVCD using the default settings in DVD2SVCD. I burned the images using CloneCD.

I bought a DVD Burner and now want to convert the SVCDs to DVD Compliant MPG2. I am encountering a problem with several of the SVCDs. I rip the mpg2 to my hard drive using ISOBUSTER. I am able to reencode the second and third SVCD MPGs in the series of two or three. It is the first mpg that I am unable to convert. About 72% of the way into the conversion, I get crashes in TMPGEnc, CCE, ProCoder, and MovieFactory. TMPGEnc actually does the best job because it will save the encode up to the point of crash. I don't get the whole SVCD converted, but I do get the 72% converted.

Anyway, the error message states that the Encoder has encountered Encryption in the MPG stream and cannot continue. I am wondering how I can work around this Encryption if I am unable to encode the MPG.

I do not want to hack the header on the MPG to put SVCDs on a DVD because the SVCDs do not work on the majority of DVD players. I want DVD Compliant MPGs. I have tried this in DVDLab, b ut DVDLab was unable to DeMux an encrypted mpg. I tried converting straight from my CD in MovieFactory, but again, failure.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since TMPGEnc has already encoded part of your video, why not use its Source Range function to encode just past the encrypted portion?
    Hello.

  3. Using Source Range is a good idea and I will try it, hoping, that the remaining 28% is not encrypted. I could be in for a lot of trial and error testing before I find out just how much is encrypted of the last section and how much is not.

Thanks for the tip. Let's hope it is an easy fix.

Did you frameserve your source to TMPGenc with DVD2AVI?
    If not, do so.

Also, try to import the mpeg 2 to virtualdub mod or virtualdub mpeg2 and export to avi.

  5. I frameserverd using DVD2AVI and no luck...again crash.

I will attempt to load to Virtualdub MOD and export to AVI.

Have you ever heard of this problem with other DVD2SVCD users who want to convert their SVCD MPGs to DVD?

Looks like I am stuck redoing everything
