I have a Sony digital camcorder(PAL), I use Video Wave 4 to capture the video (352x288 resolution) to AVI file, than use the same software to convert to VCD-PAL format(.mpg), then use Nero to burn it to CD-R disc. When I play it on my VCD player, the picture quality is very bad. I don't know what is the possible reason:
1) My VCD player should be Ok, because it can play other CD-R disc well. I also tried to use another DVD player, the result is almost same.
2) My CD-RW drive is TDK, I have tried on another TEACH drive, the result is almost same.
3) I have tried 2 brand of CD-R disc (Sanyo and TDK), the result almost same.
The minimum burning speed of Nero is 4x, is it related to picture quality? What is possible reason for the poor picture quality?
Thank you.

Is the quality of the captured AVI file good, is the quality of the converted mpeg file bad when played on your PC. If this is the case then you can lay the blame at the door of your encoding software. Try using TMPGEnc to encode to mpeg. It is an excellent encoder and is free for mpeg1 conversion.
