I have used TMPGEnc Plus for about a year now & have been happy with my home DVDs that I've been creating. But I just bought a new Sony 50" LCD HDTV and am pretty sure that I'll be getting a progressive scan DVD player too (my previous TV was an analog & my previous DVD player was "not progressive"). I am wondering if there are any settings that I need to change within TMPGEnc now that I have a digital TV and will soon have a progressive scan DVD player ... particularly in the areas of interlaced & non-interlaced video? Thank you.

If source is interlaced, keep it interlaced.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks jimmalenko. I shoot my footage with the Sony mini-dv TRV 22. I think that shoots interlaced video, but I'm not sure. In TMPGenc, there are 2 specific settings that I'm not sure about. 1st, Under Video - Encode Mode, I had Interlace selected ... should I change that now? 2nd, under Advanced - Video Source Type, I have Interlace ... does that need to be changed? Thank you.

Your DVD player being progressive scan has nothing to do with it. Keep encoding with whatever settings you have been using.
    If in doubt, Google it.
