    Hi,
I'm a newbie, I tried searching first but sorry if this was already posted before.
I like using graphedit for encoding, converting, and sometime just playing files because i like to see what filters it uses and how it works. I have a bunch of audio codecs, Including Mpeg Layer 3, DivX Audio, Lame MP3, and a couple more.
Now with virtual dub i can see the list of audio codecs, and by going into my control panel\Sound and multimedia devices, and looking at the properties of "audio codecs" i can see all my codecs, I also installed all my codecs onto my laptop.
Now here is the problem, when i use graphedit I select insert filters, and i go to audio compressors, none of my codecs are there. Only 3 are listed "Vorbis Compressor" "Vorbis Encoder" and "WMAudio Encoder DMO".
I don't see my MP3, DivX, or anything else. Now on the other hand when i look at my video compressors i see all my video codecs. Also, on my laptop I can see all my audio codecs with graphedit, just not here. I did notice that all the audio compressors (except for the ones i could see) were assoiciated with quartz.dll when i saw them on my laptop. But I can see other filters from quartz.dll, quatz.dll is a directX file. Please Help Me.
Is this a problem with my codecs? directshow? graphedit? Or what?
    Help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes, i ran it before and i just ran it again. no change The problem is that my audio compressors section is just about empty. Where as on my laptop, where i installed the same codecs, i see them. I did notice that all the missing ones were assoiciated with "quartz.dll" on my laptop. I didn't even know they weren't there until i read the ogm to vcd guide and it said to insert the MPEG Layer 3 audio compressor filter.

    thanks for responding,

    add it to my path?

Actually my laptop has windows xp. also it does have directx 8.1 where as this computer has 9.0. could that be the problem? hmmm... i don't know. it worked before... in fact i've used it before and had the codecs there. it was recently when i had sent my laptop service because it had a problem and was under warenty. when i got it back it was wiped out, so i was reinstalling everything. thats when i decided to upgrade the programs on this computer too. i upgraded virtual dub, tmpgenc, graphedit, divx, and the rest of my codecs (mpeg layer 3, lame mp3, and more). Maybe that will explain it.

    thanks for trying to help,

I don't understand this at all...

Oh, wait a second.... I REMEMBER NOW!! ok i know when this started and maybe it will help solve this problem. I use to have the Nimo codec pack, and it had all my audio codecs in it. But a number of people told me it was bad, and had a lot of problems with compatibility, eventually someone blamed it for making me not able to play some ogm files i donwloaded and at that point i uninstalled it and went on a giant egg hunt downloading and installing the codecs i had lost. Thats when this whole thing started, and i was missing my audio codecs in graphedit, now a bunch of them just magically came back except for the mpeg layer-3 and lame mp3.

    I hope this helps
