You sure you've selected the wav as audio source in TMPGEnc? Have never had TMPG fail on encoding a wav to mpg...

Yes, but that is not relevant here, as you say you have a WAV with the movie audio? Or are you planning on some other method? than using DVD2AVI?

What im planning to do is use the wav and d2v file that dvd2avi created and encode them into mpeg, but then the audio doesnt work when the mpegs finish encoding, ive never come across this problem before

Strange indeed - If it's really a wav that you can listen to, and it sounds fine, and you've selected this wav as audio source in TMPGEnc, and you're using the D2V as video source, then it should work!?!
Only explanation I can come up with is that it's not really a wav, but a AC3 that somehow has a wav extension...
As a work-around, you could try to encode the wav to mp2 with toolame or wav2mp, then encode the video to m1v/m2v, and finally multiplex them to VideoCD/Super Video CD mpeg streams.

That's even wierder, since the audio stream is exactly the same in VCD and SVCD...
