I am attempting to convert a DIVX to DVD using the following guide:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm

As suggested, I used Virtualdub to extract the audio prior to encoding. After encoding with TMPGEnc, the video quality was great, but the audio only lasted for about 15 seconds before disappearing. I tried converting the DIVX to DVD without extracting the audio first and got the same error.

FYI, I burned the "video only" file on a DVD +RW and played it on my Sony DVD player - great video pic, but no sound as anticipated. Please help.

How did you extract the audio? Full processing or direct stream?
I suggest direct stream, then decode to wav with external app (Use file info to see what encoder is used for audio). That way, the decoder will surely report the errors (if any) it finds in the audio stream.
Before doing this, if you're not 100% sure it's an error free DivX AVI, scan for bad frames and save it out with VDub (direct stream) first.
