Quicktime and Malata VDR-R1 Problem

I sold my terapin to get the new Malata VDR-R1 in hopes of a better unit. Well. The Terapin CDR's played fine on my MAC but the Malata CDR's have a strage phenom...When using the Quicktime 5 player as always, When I attempt to open a movie I get to the folder list (CDDR,CDI,EXT,MPEGAV,SEGMENT,VCD) The app wont let me open the MPEGAV folder(or any other folder on the CDR) to get at the AVSEQ01.DAT file.
These CDR's play fine in my Samsung 301 DVD VCD player. And my PC. But I cant get into the folder on any mac. I can see the AVSEQ01.DAT file by opening the CDR on my desk top but when I click on the AVSEQ01.DAT it tries to open Adobe Premire with no success.It feels like a directory problem kinda like the MPEGAV folder is the last item in the string.
