  1. Hey All,

I bought some of these from Shop4Tech a while back:

    http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=242&cata=&s_cata=

For some reason, my Pioneer DVR-104 will not write these at 2X.
I have the 1.31 Firmware that is suggested, but every one I try at 2X, burns successfully, but freezes on me toward the end.. Anywhere from 3.5GB up to 4.1GB

When I burn at 1X, all is fine... I am running low on DVDR's..Could someone give me some suggestions on media that will burn at 2X that wont freeze up on me???? thx

Those discs are 1x discs that CAN burn at 2x.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  4. bama,

Those discs burn flawlessly at 2x with firmware version 1.40 + 2x hack. I went through the same thing you did till I upraded to 1.40 + the 2x hack.

http://firmwares.co.uk/ the last one on the page.
    v1.40 (RPC-1 + 2x for all)

I remember stating that G03's were junk too on this forum untill someone pointed out this same thing to me....now I wish I could get more

  7. v1.40 (RPC-1 + 2x for all) firmware works great with DVD-R at 2x. However, you got to be very careful with DVD-RW. Use only Nero to erase them and only at 1x. Also, burn RWs only at 1x. RecordNow DX has a tendency to ruin them RW disks. I learned to use only Nero with them.

thx for the help....and I only use NERO...although I am not sure how to erase a DVDRW at 1X....

I've had the exact same problem using 1.31 but I didn't stay with the hacked 1.40 as it screwed my -RWs on erase and I can't see how you can adjust the erase speed in Nero either.

Be interesting to hear how you do that.

  10. hey guys,

what do you mean you can only erase -rw with Nero using this 1.40 firmware?

u mean other softwares like a CloneCd or Alcohol wont work nor erase these -rw's?

just need to clear these out.. :\

No, only the hacked 1.40 x2 Firmware trashes my -RWs when you erase it with Nero or any other app I've tried, I guess it is because it is doing it at a higher speed than the desk can handle. I'd like to know how to reduce teh speed in Nero when using this hacked firmware (someone earlier in this post suggested that it could be done).

  12. I would also like to know how to reduce the speed in Nero if possible.

Is there a firmware out there that will burn RitekG3's at 2X reliably while not screwing up the DVD-RW's???

    thx

  13. In both versions of Nero that I have used, the 5.5.10.20 and 5.5.10.28, when erasing a RW disk, it will give you a window just before the erase operation starts. You get to select to erase either at 1x, or 2x, or Max.
