avi 2 dvd (mpg problems)

okay i need help... i had an avi format movie, and i converted to mpg using tmpgenc..... and now when i try to burn it to dvd+r using nero express. i choose my dvd+rw recorder and dvd video files and it dont acccept mpg files but when i go to my cd+rw recorder under vcd and svcd it loads mpg files so i burn to cd-r and try in dvd player it dont work can someone help me plz

When you convert to MPEG using TMPGEnc, are you using a template?

Before you command TMPGEnc to start encoding, do you select a DVD format from the templates using the Load function.

I'm not familiar with Nero Express but for Nero you don't drag the DVD mpg files directly to nero's work area like you do with vcd or svcd mpg files. You must first author your files with a program like Ulead DVD Movie Factory or Spruce Up. You then drag the audio and video FOLDERS into the work area of Nero. I'm sure it's the same for Nero Express.

when i use spruceUP when i author the mpg to burn to dvd+r... i get this error

error loading video input..

i get it all the time at 99% can anyone help
