Hi Everyone,
I'm very new to the whole world of backing up DVD's but it's good to see such an involved forum.
I'm sure someone has asked this before but I've tried a search but with no real result. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to burn a DVD with the Main Menu but WITHOUT the extras. I can do movie-only backups using DVD Decrypter but I'm a bit anal and I want to have something that "sort of" mimics the original when I put it in my DVD player but retain as much quality as possible.
I'm still trying to learn IFOEdit which seems like it can do it.
Does anyone have any tips/advice? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!![]()

BOODO...........you are in the same boat as me...
I too want to make backup dvd's with the menu title and just the movie only......i have found a way of barring out the extra feature buttons/tabs on the menu's but when u strip away the extra vob files the whole dick becomes abit unstable and no ripper prog will touch it to resize it for a single disk................
PLEASE somebody explain simply how to do it as ifoedit seems complicated to me aswell...............MATT_THE_MOUSE®™ -
I can do that with DVDshrink by just setting the extras to be still pictures in the custom compression screen. That way the size of the extras goes to near zero freeing up space for the main movie.

If the remaining materials fit on one disk, it will burn or create files to burn without re-encoding. If the material won't fit, it will re-encode to fit.

Tried this with DVD2ONE,but it will not accept the input without the vob files. -

Yes, there's a very good guide. The link was posted in one of the threads here. I copied the guide as a mht file on my HD. I don't remember the link though. If you want it, pm me and I'll e-mail it to you.
Out of the box, you won't be able to select the tiltes you want copied. The software will shrink the entire content on one disk. However, there are a couple of registry hacks that would make it very easily possible to select only the tiltes you want. For example, you may not want the extra scenes, the leaders, the trailers, etc. If there are two versions of the main tilte, such as wide screen or full screen, you can select which one you want. You can find the links to the registry hacks from the guide I just mentioned. I'll see if I can find the link and I'll post it if I do.
IC will re-encode the tiltes so they fit on one disk. Therefore, it is kind of slow. I think the quality is one of the best. -
I just found one http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/ Let me see how this works.

hullo I've got a question about shrink.... we can cut the extras and etc to for a comression or example still movie (which means for me 1 SQUARE per second) but the extras will play with this speed on the standalone players we solve the problem but not exactly... question is how in a simple way (not a ifoedit) do that those extras bonus etc. wil be deleted without changing structure of menu and navigation...option "still movie" creates bad feeling in user... you have to watch slow motion extras
I'm still tryin' to find a way to cut them out but I realy lost of possibilities try to understand a freshman
and help
please
One and only problem is to loop the navi bars to that same screen after the extras are gone....

IC7 with Hidden Settings and reg hacks will give best results I have found for a near one click solution IMHO.

I haven't tried MenuEdit yet but I've JUST tried using DVDShrink but I hit a weird problem when I burnt it.
I reduced the size of all of the extras and left the movie and the main navigation menu intact (including the lead in and lead out to the menu) However, when I burn it, the navigation and directory structuring has gone so now when I put it in my DVD player, it goes into the main menu but when I try and select the "Play Movie" option, the cursor dissapears and it continues to play the length of the menu screen and then it plays through each of the static screens from the extras until it gets to the movie (which is Title 13 out of 17)
Anyone have an idea why this might happen? Would it work if I just use DVD Shrink to encode the menu lead-in, the menu itself, the lead-out and the movie itself?
Thanks!

I was reading above about how to use DVD Shrink to turn all the extras
you don't need to still images to save space. What happens when you try
to access an extra (that is now a still image) from the main menu? Does it
just show you a blank screen then return you back to the menu? If not,
do I need Menu Edit to disable the button associated with that menu.
Also, let's say the main movie is from VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_6.VOB
and this is re-encoded through (say DVD2DVD-R) so that it now only
takes up 4 VOBs, I assume that DVD Shrink now updates the IFO file for
it to reflect the fact that the main movie now only takes up 4 VOBs?
I'm new to this so any help would be nice
