I have a VHS tape and I want to put this tape in a DVD.
Unfortunately I can't myself capture this tape, so I told somebody to do this capture for me and give me a DVD. (Later I want to put chapters, menus etc).
This friend gave me a DVD with 2 files. One with the extension m2v and the other with the extension wav.
The question is, how can I join these 2 files in one file in mpg format so as to author menus etc using Ulead DVD Workshop?

Hello
The most popular program for this is TMPGEnc
You can download it for free but it will only work for something like 30 days after that you have to BUY a registration code that will unlock it for further use.
There are many guides on here for using TMPGEnc
You can also find a download for it in the TOOLS section of tihs website.

you could go the tmpgenc route and multiplex the audio and video streams under the file > mpeg tools option. However, even though I don't use dvd workshop, I would suspect that it probably has an option to import an m2v and wav stream for dvd authoring. I mean dvd authoring programs are going to split any mpeg you open anyway, it just seems like an unecessary step to put the files into one mpeg, only to have it split into two streams again, just my .02$.

hi
, another method of course is ifoedit...just select new dvd author. and once in that window all u do is import ur video and ur wav file and save it to a destination and whallaaa
-
I did what you told me with ifoedit but this programm gave me two files again. The first with the extension BUP and the other with the extension IFO.
I repeat. I want to make only one mpg file , is it possible and how? Please tell me, i don't want to learn how ifoedit works, only that thing.
Thank you -
you were just told, use TMPGenc. pres file, go to MPEG tools. go to the simple multiplex screen. put your .m2v in the video box and the .wav in the audio box. click go.
what supersam and hotwings are trying to say, is this. you have a video file and an audio file. you are going to multiplex them into one file. then you're going to load it up in Ulead, and ulead is going to split it back into a video file and an audio file. multiplexing with TMPGenc is an unnecesary step, which just wastes time and hard drive space. don't be so quick to criticise the advice given to you by people who a) obviously know a lot more on the subject than you and b) have been kind enough to share their knowledge and experience. -
1)I understood that I am trying to make an unecessary step but what else to do.Recapture is not possible and Ulead doesn't accept two separate files for DVD authoring but only one
2)I made all the steps you told me in TPPGenc but the programm says that "Multiplexing Linear PCM stream to system stream is not supported"
3)How did you find out that I am rude with the other who posted a message for me? -
i would think it would be easier if u just multiplex these two files onto vob files with bup and ifo files. did he make a svcd with two separate files or a dvd with two separate files. if its a dvd, why not just put these two files together and and produce vob files and what not so that it can be more compatible with stand alone players
? but if he made u a svcd that has been split with an audio and video file then u still can produce vob files and stuff but i dont think it will be as compatible as the one mentioned above . this type of svcd on dvd is called dvdx. and this method is good if u like putting 2 or 3 svcds on a dvd-r
just wanted to share my insight...hehe -
