  1. To all,

After reading a few messages incl this site about the NEC-1300 writer I became very concerned. Not in the least by realizing that I ordered one. Well it came last week and tried things out. In my case there are no troubles what so ever. It burns + and – media of diverend brands including Philips /RW. VCD, SVCD DVD and Mini DVD. So either I am very lucky, or there must be a bad batch somewhere. Anyway, it worth trying, because here it das anything it must, without any problems. And at low costs.

Have you tried several DVD-R brands? Because it seems to have most problem with it. Be also sure to verify the burned media so it actually works.

  3. Yes I did and everything seems to work prop. Only after some time it will become clear if there are brands tht do not support. Verbatim will get you the best results.

I used Eproformance cheap media, i paid 169 swedish kronor for ten discs! and they worked great in every DVD i tried! I also tried 3t DVD-+R,they are more expensive and also works great! I have backuped over 60 discs with my NEC 1300 using all types of media, some cheap and some expensive and they all works great!!! No problem so far

If you click on the tab that says "DVD Writers" on your left, you will notice that many users are having problems with this drive and different types of media (normally -R media). I've had SOOOOOOOOOOOO many problems with the NEC 1100A and have simply disregarded NEC as a reliable brand forever. They make cheap drives that are quite frankly pieces of sh!t. I would recommend any and everyone to always stay away from anything that NEC makes (especially DVD writers).

But that's my opinion on the whole subject. You might have some people who are happy with their drives, but that is a VERY small percentage compared to the people who have numerous problems with it.

  8. Hallo Theo,

I have the Nec 1300 as well. I use DVDDecrypter (select all files), DVD2ONE (movie-only) and Copy2DVD, burns video_TS and audio_TS with only files in video_TS.
Used Nashua DVD+RW to try if everything works.
The DVD will play on the pc, but will not play on a DVD-player, Pioneer 343, which should work.
    Which programs/methods/guides dou you use?

    Any idea what goes wrong?

    Thanx
