  1. I have a digital photo camera that captures video clips in QT. I want to be able to burn (using Nero) these onto vcd/svcd to watch on DVD.

I can successfully use TMPGEnc to convert the QT files to mpg, burn the vcd and watch on the DVD player. PROBLEM: no sound.

Now, I've searched the forums and web repeatedly and right now I'm feeling like I need about 5 programs and about 20 steps to do this conversion with sound--MAYBE. Scenarios I've read:

I understand that I may need to convert sound separately using something like Virtual Dub. But it appears that Virtualdub will only deal with AVI files.

So then I'm looking at the option of using Radvideo to convert the mov to avi. But the help guide says I still may not get sound and that I might need Total Recorder???

Where does this end?? There HAS to be a basic way to do this. I'm about to give up here--I just don't have the time and cds to trial and error this process anymore!!!

Basic task--little QT digital camera video clips on a vcd.
    Please help--anyone?

  2. Mwah ha ha ha!!!

AT LAST! 9 months later I have found the answer to my own question(by accident I might add).

    EO Video converter
    http://www.eo-video.com/download/download.htm

It's $34.95. There is a free trial though. EO takes my QuickTime files (.MOV) and effortlessly converts them WITH SOUND to .mpg files. Nero, of course, is then able to place these onto my VCD/SVCD with no fuss at all. The interface is great and options are a plenty. Worth the price.

The link was in this site's "tools" section all along--but no one ever suggested this program as a solution.

    I hope this helps someone.

  3. How about QuickTimePro.
Deals with QuickTime's variable framerate problem. TMPGEnc, Premeire, EO, all give jerky motion.

  4. With the 12 or so clips that I've converted with EO I've yet to see any jerking motion.

We have a copy of QT pro at work that I recall trying w/o success sometime ago. I tried numerous, frustrating approaches--trust me. I'll take another look at QTPro--but I'm saying EO worked.

Anyone having problems not getting sound in their blasted MOV to MPEG conversions (do a search here for ".mov no sound", there are heaps) should try the demo at least.
