  2. i have been capturing movies from dtv with a ati aiw128rage agp capture card with s-video and using the mmc 7.7 it comes with . the results in vcd quality are great , the sound is always in dolby pro logic. the picture quality is what is expected in mpeg 1, the size is 600mb for 1 hr of video on a cdr in vcd format burnt with nero. so movies will run you 2 cdr's.

i dont capture in mpeg 2 for dvd-r's since the files for 1 hr of video in excellect quality is 3.6GB. the medium dvd quality is a poor setting with
    alot of pixelation.

the divx quality was excellent same size as vcd but looks like dvd . for divx capture i used virtual dub.
so unless your doing vcd's or they make divx players that are standalone dont bother unless your just archiving.

  3. Thx for the info, but I guess my post was ambiguous. I wanted to know about Tivo/ReplayTV.

  4. I have a panasonic dmr-hs2 - 40gb hdd and dvd-r/ram burner, and directv satellite tv system. I love it, however, the built in program guide does not work with satellite tv automatically. I have to program both the sat box and the panasonic for timed recording. You don't get the ease of use and features that you get with a tivo/replay for timed recording, but they can't burn you dvd when you want a copy of what you recorded either.
