    Hi,
I am in the process of converting my old Hi8 videos to DVD using a Digital8 camcorder and DV firewire port. I caputered the video on my computer. The editing is going to be quiet basic, cut out some parts, pun in a title or two, and do some chapters - I want to retain as much original video as possible for the DVD.

However, before transferring to DVD, is there anything else that's recommended with this Hi8 video? I notice the overscan lines... Those should not be displayed on a TV? Is this also true for plasma and LCD Projector? If so, what is the best way to get rid of those?

Also, is there any other adjustments that I need to make (that are common with the HI8 to digital conversion) in my editing software before I burn?

    many thanks!

    Hello,

I was just searching the forum for answers to the same questions. I just captured Hi-8 videos in DV format of my kid's kindergarden group to make a DVD out of it and give it to all the parents.

Besides the possibility of cropping the overscan lines at the bottom, are there any other filters in VirtualDub that would make those analog video better looking before authoring them?

    neat video has been mentioned
probably the best you can hope for is a light cleaning...this format actually needs some of it's noise to display properly...IMO
