3 full movies on a cd? not likely ,,, certainly not with mp3 as it is an audio only format - unless you mean 3 full movies audio only ..
-
yes i am absolutely sure about 3 movies on one cd, only for computers, i am not sure they are in mp3 or mpeg format, but commonly they are known as mp3 videos, picture quality is not very good, especially on full screen but voice is ok... infact they are very popular to keep a good collection of movies......any ideas

no such thing as mp3 videos .
prob. a mpeg4 type -- you can use either windows media encoder ver. 9 or divx ..
guides on the left ..
full movies (2 hours each) would require a little tiny screen size and really small bit rate --
in other words would look like crap .. 6 hours on 1 cd video and audio
maybe our definition of "full movie" is diff.
anyway -- still no such thing as a mp3 video (for all practical purposes) -
Actually, it's not impossible. Fitting 3 movies on a CD, that is.
Since the average movie is not 2 hours - most tend to be in the 90~100 minutes each, with a 700 Mb CD you need 233Mb for each movie. (266Mb with an 800Mb CD).
Encoding into DivX 352 x 288 with MP3 sound at 64kbps I've seen episodes turn into 120~150Mb with very decent quality. Dropping the quality just a bit, you can achieve this. The new Divx (5.03) with multiple pass VBR option is very suitable for this game.
Of course it all depends on movie content as well. I've compressed Armagedon and it takes 4 CDs with good quality while Panic Room only needs 1 (at 720x576 x 25fps with 128kbps MP3 audio).
Furthermore, once you don't care about standards, one can drop frames and convert a 25fps movie into a 12.5fps stream. The PC will happily playback the movie and this gives 50% extra bitrate to compensate for quality. You should try this! The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
well like i said - my idea of full movie is full dvd quality or darn close to it .. otherwise i dont see the point .. then again this is my opinion only and others have thier own ..

yes, unfortunately, this makes sense. Quality.. well, you know what you're
gettin. But, I do understand that you can jimmy the frame rate (fps) a bit
lower thanusual, IF you can figure out HOW to get it as smooth play as
possible, then this IS possible to get 3 movies on one CDbut realise
the quality will not be all that great, though to most (key word) newbie's,
this will look great to them. Heck, I have a friend who gave me a CDR that
he got from another friend, and this disk has 2 movies on it..
* Shrek
* Planet of the Apes
The above disk must'ev ben popular, because I received another copy
elsewhere's some time later. So, it may have ben from the same source.
Anyways..
I've ben messing around w/ DV home footage, and found that I can convert
the frame rate to 24 fps (though not tested on TV viewer [yet] ) but that
got me to thinking, if I can do 24.. then, how about adding a 3:2 pulldown
and make it look Film'ish utilizing an AR of 16:9 while I'm at it. Well, I'm
working on this. And, ta think, that some time ago, I was arguing that this
is NOT possible, yet, I'm proving MYSELF wrong !! hehe..
Anyways..
while I'm at it, and since I've gotten this far, I might as well do some more
messing around w/ the fps and test that 12.5 fps too, just to see (out of
curiosity) how it would look. I ended up buying another (replacement) to
my Canon ZR-10 w/ a Sony TRV-22 (very good quality vs. my old ZR-10)
Big difference.. Anyways.. this one has differnt frame rate setting, but not
the usual like my ZR-10. I had to re-learn a few new things out on this toy.
Anyways.. Back to topic..
I think that it's all quite possible, but..
* quality will never approach DVD, as BJ_M pointed out, and is right!
...not when you're talking 3 movies on one cdr.
* frame rate can be reduced to increate quality some, but at expense of
...video smoothness
* anything else ta add here.
Just my TWO cents worth.. and that's it for me.
