I have some DIVX5 clips that I am trying to convert to VCD's. The problem I am having is that when I use FFMPEGX to do the conversion the sound is out of sync. I am using DIVX Validator before I run them through FFMPEGX, so they start in-sync and they end up pretty bad.

Also, the picture quality is not as good. Is there a better way ?

The diffuculty is you have to pick the SAME frame rate and other encoding specs that were used to make the DIVX in the first place. If you didnt do it youself it can be an endless guessing game. The EASIEST WAY, is to validate, open in quicktime and export as a TOAST VCD. Ensure you split your divx into two first!

You can either do that 1 of two ways,
Use the Split function of FFMPEGX
or use Quicktime to choose the first half, copy, paste into a new movie and repeat for 2nd half. Export each to TOAST VCD and you have your mpeg file that will be accepted under TOAST VCD option.

    QUALITY ISSUE
crap in is crap out. Thus, whatever the quality of the divx is the MAX quality of the VCD you can get. sorry. But one thing that will help:
Your monitor is most likely much higher resolution than your TV, so it will look better when you do watch the VCD on the tv than it looks when you watch the VCD on your mac! (thats a plus)
