  1. Hi,

I'm about to buy a new digital camcorder (MiniDV).
Mein Rechner ist ein P3-700 mit 384 MB Ram.

Will I be able to get the video to my PC with a firewire card or is it just to slow?

I know that editing the video will be very slow, but will I get the video to my PC without any quality loss?

    Sorry for my bad english,

    but thanks for any help

    Marcus

  2. Sure, You can do that.
Just download "DVIO" and stat to capture from your Firewire card.
You will not loss any quality.

It will work fine! I started on a P3 733Mhz and it worked fine. I also use a P2 266Mhz notebook computer to do some capturing and editing, but need to use an external firewire hard drive to make it work. Editing and conversion to mpeg will be slow. If you need more hard drive space, I would suggest you buy an external that connects with firewire. Not the fastest option, but it might help with the capturing. There are several FREE tools that you can use to transfer the video from DV camera to your PC. Just click on the tools button at the left of the page. I use DVio for most of my work, and then use EditStudio for my editing. http://www.puremotion.com for a free 30 day trial of Editstudio, get the trial of mpegXS too.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
