  1. I have a "the matrix.avi" on my computer. I used AVI spliter (aviable at www.download.com) to split it into 2 files which I could fit on 2 CDs in vcd format.

After I split the file into 2, I checked to make sure they played by using Windows Media Player 9.0 (WMP 9). Next, I opened up

    NERO burning ROM v. 5.5.10.0

I then chose svcd format. I clicked+dragged the first file of the matrix, which I labeled "matrix part 1" to the window on the left where it lists in a "details" format the track, title, duration, pause, and size. It showed up like this:
    ______________________________________
    Track | Title | Pause | Size |
    ------------------------------------------------------
    2 | part 1 matrix| 00:05.00 | 480 x 480 |

Above that window were the specialized folders that automatically show when I choose "svcd" or "vcd" format. The video took up about 612 MB on the CD according to the bar at the bottom of the Nero program.

I double checked everything. I then clicked "Write CD" under file. It took a long time to encode the video, then I placed a blank CD-R disk (Memorex 700MB/80min) into my MSI 40x12x48 CD burner. It burned the CD.

I then walked over to my DVD player and tried the CD(my DVD player is a toshiba 2900 and it is suppossed to be able to play VCDs according to the guy at Bestbuy, the manual, and because it has a display light on the player that shows "vcd" when a "vcd" is in the player.

When I played the movie, the sound cut off about 2 seconds into the film, it continued to play the movie's video but not its sound.

I then thought, "hmm maybe I shouldnt have chosen 'svcd' . I'll try the same thing again with an exception that it would be in 'vcd' format this time". And so I did what I thought. I tried it 3 times after the first, every time it didn't work. The sound cut off again 2 seconds into the film. I wasted 3 CDs

By this time I'm pretty frustrated. . I tried some of the failed VCDs on my computer by using WMP 9. I clicked open, went over to the "MPEGAV" folder on the CD and chose the file "AVSEQ01". It played the same way that it did on my DVD player: 2 seconds of sound and then no sound at all.

Thankyou for reading all this and I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me solve this problem. BTW, this was my first VCD movie I tried to create so I am very "newbie" to this kind of technology. I have also read the "how to" pages on this site. This forum is my last resort.
