    I have a similar problem.

    AIW 128
    windows 98se
    mmc7.1 with the lastest drivers

I don't capture to avi but I can't capture mpg1 or 2 at any bitrate above the 352*240 resolution.
With mmc 6.3 I have no problems capturing 640*480 mpg1 or 2 but mmc6.3 does not have the variable bitrate option.

  3. I cant even get it to accept 352 X 240. It only sets customs to 320 X 240 or 480 X 240. I need 352 X 240 so I can make VCD compliant CDs for my APEX 660.
Anyone have any ideas why it wont accept 352 X 240?
AIW pro 128 32MB, all the latest drivers and MMC7.

    thanks.

  4. I solved the problem on my compaq 5150wm by:

    1) Un-Installing latest ATI AIW drivers.
    2) Installing Latest Rom Upgrade from Compaq...IMPORTANT
    3) Installing Latest Builting soundcard Drivers
    4) Installing Directx8a & DirectVideoCapture update.
    5) Going back to the ATI driver version 4.12.6292
    & Multimedia 6.3.

I noticed that the ATI Multimedia Video Driver (ATIPPCAP.VXD) was available until I install MMC6.3.

This drivers seems to control all of the different capture formats available for the video card.

Now VirtualDub works great in WindowsME...

    Hope this helps

MMC7.1 and the newest drivers should work just as well as 6.3, if not better (eliminated a/v sync issues for me), unless WinME is screwing things up (quite possible). Avoid WinME if it is at all an option.

If you use the ATI Registry tool (available on this site under tools) you can set custom resolutions, such as 352x240.

Note that ATI MMC restrics AVI size to legacy 1.0GB size, so it is more or less useless unless you are only recording a short clip.

If you want all the options available with your hardware (for AVI capture) use VirtualDub and the Set Custom Format option. Then worry about encoding it to MPEG. You'll probably get better results anyway.

Does anyone know how to enable the variable bitrate option in mmc6.3(if possible).

I had no problem capturing above the 352*240 resolution in 6.3 but 7.1 is slightly different that 6.3

Here's what I have been told it different

    1. Used a differnt(ligos or something like that) for encoding mpg1 and mpg2.

    2. Does not support video for windows

  7. I had a very similar problem with my TV Wonder card. The entire problem is 7.1MMC. It will not capture more than 240(or maybe 28 lines of video. Go back to 6.X and use VirtualDub for video capture.

  8. I was wondering if anyone had a copy of MMC 6.3? Please email me a link or a copy to me. I can only get 7.1 off the website and it is not working out for me
Using a ATI ALL in 1 128 pro.
    Thanks
