  1. It seems toolame is back on track, new versions coming out, latest version 0.2L supports full VBR and is a huge overhaul.

UPDATE: there seems to be two compiled versions out there, one that uses CYGWIN, and the other that uses ICL7.

The CYGWIN version gives "illegal mpeg stream" error under TMPG, the other version however works perfectly.

How to tell the difference? Simple, the CYGWIN compile has a CYGWIN.dll file in the pack.

  3. I am suddenly unable to generate valid layer 2 files with tooLame.

I just made an entire DVD with layer 2 sound using tooLame 2k I think and it works great, but now they're all invalid and TMPGEnc refuses to multiplex with them, complaining "Illegal MPEG Audio Stream".

What's wrong? Here's the command line I'm using:

    toolame -e -s 48.0 -m s -b 224 input.wav output.wav

(yes, the input WAVs are already 48.0Khz)

I also use the BeSweet GUI, but I get the same results. When I try to play the file in WinAmp, it will load but says it's a zero size and won't play anything.
