  1. Ok, I am learning this stuff very fast. I can rip a DVD, select the stuff I want to backup (main movie only, for example), run IFOEdit on the selection, and then run DVD2ONE to compress so that it fits on one DVD-R. A question just came up: what about the region code? I have Pioneer 105 with hacked firmware (1.30) which is regionfree. When I rip DVD to harddrive, the copy becomes regionfree, correct? After I do all the "magic" stuff with the VOB and IFO files and burn the final result to a blank DVD-R disk, the movie on the DVD-R is also regionfree, right? My question is: can I play this regionfree ripped DVD-R movie on a Region 1 (not hacked) standalone DVD player? (Right now I have an old model of Samsung DVD player which does not have hacks to make it regionfree. Does the region code matter at all at this point? Can any DVD player play regionfree DVD disks? I am planning to get a new player and would like to know my options so that I don't get something that will not work.)

I would be surprized if there are any DVD players that won't play region free DVDs. I have many region free DVDs that I made myself from home movies and my stand alone players play them.

I did once have a problem with Xmedia player (Xcard app) saying some of my DVDs where the wrong region but that turned out to be the Nero DVD glitch that has since been resolved.
