  1. My sister recently downloaded an m2v file and I was wondering what player will play it and do I need a codec of some sort? I use Windows Media Player. Also, can it be converted to an mpg for vcds? Any help would be appreciated thanks

an m2v is a mpeg 2 basicaly try renaming it to mpg and opening it with a dvd player like power dvd or windvd. If im not mistaken, correct me if Im wong a m2v is just the video side of it not the audio.

M2V can be either a video-only or video-and-audio program of MPEG-2. Usually when you download a M2V file off the net, it's a video-and-audio program, meaning it's basically a MPG.

Just open the file with PowerDVD, WinDVD, any MPEG-2 player. (No need to rename the file)
