I've recently converted a DivX file to Mpeg2 using TMPG with the standard PAL DVD settings of 720x576 and 16:9 aspect.
The movie has an aspect ratio of 1.85, so I selected the TMPG option of 'full screen, keep aspect ratio'
When I playback the mpeg2 file on software DVD players like WinDVD, the movie seems far too narrow and wide, but on a hardware player/TV it looks fine.
But I think I've now found the problem...
I opened the mpeg in a video editing program, and under properties it game me this:
Horizontal Size: 720
Vertical Size: 576
Display Width: 1024 (????)
Display Height: 576
Where does this display width of 1024 come from? I'm sure if it was also 720 my playback would look ok.
I thought it might be a value in the mpeg header, but DVDPatcher doesn't display this option?
