how can i convert a clip to "legal" dvd format????

i got this dvd burner and myDvd software to burn dvd...

however, whenever i tried to do a clip from my camera to premeire, it only does in AVI format.

when i import that avi clip to mydvd for burning, it always give the message "your clip has illegal dvd parameter, it will only be played on computer, not set top dvd player"

so i tried one of the avi-mpeg converter, but i got the same message...

how can i make my clips legal?

i am sure someone will present a better way, but a way (which i have never tried) is to use tmpgenc and to load the dvd template
