  1. For days now I have been trying to decrypt the movie Signs using DVD decrypt. This was the first one I tried. With no success I thought to try another prgram so I tried DVD X copy that didnt work either. So this Am I used DVD X Copy on another DVD and it worked just fine.
Ok here is my queston. Is Signs a problem ? Has any one had that problem with that movie and if they did , have they found a solution? If so What?
Ok I know thats more then one queston.

  2. Signs rips fine. This is another question that is commonly asked. Clean the disk with a cleaning solution. You can also try a scratch doctor. If that doesn't work, then there is probably a scratch which can't be repaired. But those things USUALLY work.

Well I did the cleaning thing, have no idea what scratch Dr is. Thanks for the answer, now that I know it does work I can investigate more didnt want to chase a lost cause.

a scratch doctor is a device that scrapes the reading side of a cd or dvd, which reduces the depth of scratches and makes them less prone to cause read problems.

if the scratch is deep enough that it goes into the data layer, there will not be an improvement, but most scratches are just on the surface and it might help.

another alternative - try SmartRipper. I've only encountered 2 or 3 discs that DVD Decrypter didn't like, and SmartRipper had no problem with them.

it's freeware, and it's in the Tools section at left.

  5. I have one DVD drive (my burner hp 200i) that consistently chokes on certain movies at certain points. Has nothing to do with anything I'm afraid but the drive... Obviously dirt and scratches will do it too, but if the dvd is clean it's probably one of those things. If you have another DVD-Rom try ripping it with that one, it's the only workaround I've discovered.

try Best Buy or CompUSA... most places that sell blank discs should carry them.

Maybe be a bad disc. Pressed badly. That happens too. I own two discs like that.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

It has to be your cd, like everyone else is saying. I been using smartripper for a few years. I ripped more than 40 dvds from anime to u.s. movies. It worked without a probelm.

put some toothpaste on your finger and rub it into the dvd or cd then rinse and dry takes care of most surface scratches. worked with a cd of mine that was allmost unplayable, had been out of its case in the car floor.

I've ran into several disk that do this on my liteon drive, and a few offline friends have also. Usually if I try them in a different drive (ie. my burner) they work fine. If you have another DVD drive try it.

Well l like this idea I bought something called disk Dr well that didnt even work. Wouldnt turn. What I hadnt tried was when it errored and ddint go any where I cancelled it asked if I wanted to delete the files I said no this time. I then right clicked on the file that it never will decrypt and walla it worked. Now I am trying to make a movie out of all the files. Lets see if that works. I think you all for the advise it has all been vary helpfull. If I had been smart I wouldnt have kept trying signs, but when I got the answer that signs rips fine I couldnt let go. I hope iot works this time cause Im afraid Ill take a hammer to the disk . The disk was brand new hadnt even been taken out of the package.

  14. Once with DVDDecryptor I was able to get one of the vob files to finally copy by just ignoring the errors. I probably had to ignore the error 10 times but each time it read a little more until finally it read it all.

I gave up on one however when ignoring the error did not result in further data being decrypted.

I'm amazed at how often I need to clean disks before I can copy them.
