dvd rom from hell someone help please

ok this is my first post here but i've been reading here for awhile i feel completely retarded but hoping someone can help..
my dvd rom a lg 8160b is giving me a real hard time it will let me load some dvds but not others dvds it will load are baseketball and bruce campbell vs the army of darkness official bootleg edition. the ones it won't are predator and childs play i have tried the aspi drivers they didn't work for anything the force aspi got me to the point it will play certain dvds i've tried switching ide cables switching dvd and cd rw from master to slave i have windvd and power dvd installed i am going crazy if anyone can think of anything i've missed let me know ohh i forgot i have formatted a few times started with xp pro now running 98 se only thing i can think of is cleaning the disks and get a dvd cleaner

What are the discs you are trying to play, are they from a shop or are they copies themselves.

they are original dvds

i fixed it yay turned out i had to update my firmware which didn't make sense to me cuase it was the same version but i don't care all is working now
