  1. I'm using a snazzi3 pci capture card and use it for transferring VHS to VCD. I write the captured files using Nero at 8x, but still I experience slight jerky movements in the video every couple of minutes.
I have also tried playing my VCD's on another player, but I still get the same problem. However, the VCD's play fine on my computer. Please suggest a solution to this unusual problem.

  3. Nero won't allow me to write at less than 8x. My writer is LG 8320B.
I usually use Sony blank cd's, but the problem is also reflected in other brands.
Thanks for trying to help. Any more ideas?

try install WinOnCD and burn with it
I use the latest Nero and it let me burn at 4X so I think it's the CD burner that won't let you burn at 4X
    I use Teac & Yamaha

    Try a deep-blue-bottom or black-bottom CD.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  6. I tried the suggestions to no avail.
I contacted my dealer and he said that the problem was with the nforce chipset that i was using. he suggested i try capturing on a board with the VIA chipset. I did so and now the VCD's play fine.

I simply cannot understand how this is possible.
Now even though my problem is solved, i hope someone can come up with an explanation for this bizarre incident.

The config of the VIA system is:
via cyrix 3 processor at 667 MHz
    192 MB RAM

both the comp's use 7200 RPM hard disks.
I used the same CD-writer, version of nero, write speed(8x) and cd media in both cases.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Please try and explain my predicament.

happened to me before when I'm using Snazzy USB capture, the vcd play very well in the computer, but when played in a standalone player, the sound is out of sync badly. At that time I too using VIA chipset.
Weird huh ? but I guess it's only a matter of hardware environment compatibility
