  1. Hi!

Please excuse my english. Not my first language.

Iīm kinda new here but Iīve been looking around for some comments about burning AVI files.

Iīve been thinking about all this converting and stuff and I really ainīt got the time to sit and cut the movies. So, instead I thought I was gonna buy a DVD-player that can play DivX. And that means avi files right?

So I browsed the forums here for some answers about burning the avi files but couldnīt find any useful. But I`ve been looking at the KISS 500 DVDplayer that is supposed to play DivX and maybe Iīll buy it, or some other player that can handle the format.. But then I saw in a forum that people had been getting problems playing aviīs that they had burned in Nero on the KISS 500. So someone else recommended that he should use the burning software RecordNow I think it was called.
    Now to my questions:

    1. Can I backup my AVI files on CD-R to play on my computer and possibly in a future DVD-player and if so do I burn it as a datadisc?

    2. If yes should I do it with RecordNow or Nero or something else?

    3. If I burn a AVI file with Nero on a CD-R and later find out that it doesnīt work in my DivX DVDplayer but DOES on my computer, can I take the file on the CD-R and copy it back to the computer and then burn it with another burningprogram (like RecordNow)?

    4. How do I get the subtitles in the movie if i burn it to a CD-R? Do I just place the sub file on the record just like the AVI file?

I donīt know if this is the right forum for these questions but if itīs not, then Iīm sorry for posting them here.

    Take care.

you would burn as a data disk. you can always reload file from your disk back to your computer. That is the whole purpose of the disk. you should use cdr-w that way if it doesn't work you can always erase the cd and put something else on it.

    I appreciate it alot.

Found another forum now that deals with my particular questions, so Iīll get the rest of the information about the subtitles there, hopefully...

    See ya around...
