Hi there! I hope that anyone could help me!
I have digitalized a 100 minutes VHS film, using iMovie and exported it to Quicktime, obtaining a 22 GB .mov file that plays just fine with the Quicktime Player.
Then I tried to convert it with ffmpegx in order to make a DVD image.
When browsing to the .mov file and clicking on SELECT or double clicking on the file itself, ffmpegx freezes and must be interrupted with ctrl-apple-esc.
I have installed the latest ffmpegx version with all 3 plugins like had been recommended. The plugin installation had been successful.
I am using an 17" iMac with G4 800MHz and OSX in the latest version.

    Thanks,
    Pedro

  2. It doesn't freeze, it's calling a get-info routine scanning the movie and given the unusually large size of your file, you'll have to wait some time.

    Agreed!
Since its VHS source you can tone down on the export quality to make it a smaller file so you dont have to wait FOREVER for it to scan a 22 gig .mov file!

Wow, and quicktime can play this! I thought quicktime had a 2 or 3 gig file size limit!

It will work eventually! if you just let it go, but it will most likely depend on your comptuer speed!

when exporting DV to MOV using iMovie, it is only possible to choose that high DVD quality for full framerate. Any lower quicktime quality will be exported at 15 fps and that is really not what I would like the DVD to be!
Thanks, will try it with longer waiting!
