    what exactly did you do ?
    did you use the right templete or not?

    reasons could be - bitrate,resolution,and audio.
    check if they are complient to the standart or not.

  4. im not talking about ulead, im talking about what did you do
    when you used tmpeg.
    maybe you didnt use the right templete in tmpeg,
    and thats why ulead is saying that the file is not compliant.

  6. ok, i will make a quick guide for you.

    movies come with different framerates(fps)

    ntsc = 29.97 (fps)
    ntsc film = 23.97 (fps)
    pal = 25 (fps)

    first, you need to know what is the framerate of the avi.
    you can find out by right clicking on the avi and selecting properties.

    after you find out the framerate, you need to convert the avi to mpeg
    using tmpeg.

    run tmpeg, load the avi, and load the templete you need
    (its probably ntsc), and convert the avi to mpeg.

    now, you have an mpeg file that you want to load to ulead.

    run ulead, and again select ntsc or pal (if i remember it right, you can change it under project properties)
    make shoure that you select the same as you selected
    in tmpeg (ntsc or pal).

    and thats it, i dont think you will have any problems.

    or in short :
    if its pal, go with pal on both programs
    if its ntsc, go with ntsc on both programs

  7. Make sure that the box "do not convert compliant files" is ticked or Ulead will change it into an out of synch pixelated piece of crap.

  8. In the help section of Ulead is a description of compliant DVD parameters. Make sure your video conforms to one of them. Also when you start up Ulead make sure you choose the proper format for authoring/burning (PAL or NTSC).

  9. And if worse comes to worse, you can always smack head into wall for using a Ulead product. I know I have on countless occasions.
