Hello to you all,
I'm new here and with dvd stuff, so I hope te get some help from you all professionals here![]()
Two weeks ago I bought myself a DVD-RAM ( SW-9581), great writer but the problem is that it slows down my system.
When I get something from harddisk it looks like the system waits for a long time and then start to get it, or get the first part of software waits and then after a while it gets the rest.
When this happen the system is blokked from doing something other (even ctrl alt delete will not work) when the program or configscreen loads up everything else comes at the same time![]()
I tried to change from master to slave, hook up one hd and ond dvd on one ide port, new cables, reformated mij whole system, from udma to pio, tweaking the system, looking for errors or conflicts.
Everything looks good but the problem is not solved![]()
My system prefs are;
Motherboard = MSI K7T pro 2
Processor = AMD Athlon XP2000+ at 1667 mhz
Ram = 2x512 mb ddr 266
Gfx card = Matrox g450-32mb
Hard disks = 1x IBM 60 gb 7200RPM
1x Seagate ata5 60 gb 7200RPM
DVD-ROM = Mida M16XD
DVD-RAM = Panasonic/Matshita SW-9581
WinXP sp1
PLEASE can anybody help me out here, thanks so much

Hello cdfake,
Thanks for replying, i'm realy desperate at this problem, I realy done everything I can think of
I work with this system for more than a year now and I had always the good old FAT32 onto all my partitions.
I done this because everything was running perfect until I replaced my cd burner for a dvd-ram burner.
And ppl told me that a lot of software is not compatible when I format my two harddisks into NTFS.
So if you can clear this problem for me i can try to reformat and reinstall all software again.

I have not had that problem but from day one of having a dvd burner i was told by a m8 to format this way (NTSF) it must be worth a try also fat32 won't support large files over 4gb that is and you can get them sometimes when doing dvd's..........

Hello Cdfake,
After formating all my partitions into the ntfs format and reinstall win XP home, it was runing fine.
But after the updates form microsoft site the problem was back again, so it is not my hardware where the error is.
I done another format and reinstal win XP, and done the updates one at the time, and here is where i found the problem
The security update 811493 (5,8 mb) is causing the problem, after I done this instal the system becomes verry slow and some core routines are not running well.
Now I'm typing onto my second computer and start all over with my main computer (again) and i hope to be online in a couple of days (a lot of stuff to do now)
Thanks for giving you reply and help, and the changing to ntfs is ok, for future use with dvd
