I am new to all this and arent completely up with all the terminology my problem is I start with an AVI file and convert it through TMPGEnc, my picture quality is good but im getting high pitch/hissing in my audio almost like an echo when volume is turned up reasonably loud, and this is multiplied even more when MPEG file is burnt to VCD. I captured my AVI file through Ulead Video studio from a DV cam. In TMPGEnc i set the audio at MPEG 1 audio layer 2, 44100 Mhz, stereo with 224kbps. Just wondering whether anyone can help me with this problem. Would be much appreciated as have been making allot of coasters.

Watch out for samplerate conversion. If the source is 48Khz you should use a good samplerate converter, because (S)VCD uses 44.1KHz. TMPGEnc doesn't have a good samplerate converter. DV=48KHz or 32KHz, so I am pretty sure you have samplerate conversion distortion. A good sample rate converter plug-in for TMPGEnc that solved the same problem for me is SSRC. Download and extract it to the TMPGEenc folder. In TMPGEnc select under Option->Environmental setting->External tool->Sampling frequency converter and select Browse, and then select ssrc.exe from where you extracted it to choose the ssrc.exe as External tool.
Hope this helps!
