I had some failure of some kind and I can't seem to fix it. I'm using a Canopus ADVC-50 caputure device and that feeds a firewire card. I mostly capture with Scenealyzer, but the failure is universal for all capture programs.

    I'm running a P4 1.6GHz w/ 256MB RAM and I burn using Pioneer DVR-A05.

Two things on my computer changed in between the time that capturing worked and failed. First, I installed NMapWin (port scanning software) to do some security work on my mail server. Second, I ran Norton WinDoctor from the CD. I have since uninstalled NMapWin, but the changes made by Norton can't be undone.

Various capture programs react differently. DVD Workshop says that the file is corrupt and asks if I want to delete it. Vegas Video says that its actively capturing, but when you stop, it says that it has captured 0 frames. Scenealyzer captures, but the image looks like the one below, and it only captures 2 or 3 frames before writing to a new file.

I have replaced both the ADVC-50 and the firewire card.

Anyone recognize this type of image?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you reinstall the cap programs? And then reboot?
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

    Image is about 135KB

    Thanks again.

Yes, I reinstalled two of the three capture applications I use, I didn't reinstall Scenealyzer because it doesn't get installed in the first place; it just runs without being installed.

    That's pretty.
Are you sure the device still works?
You should try it on anothers system since its external.

    Just a follow up.

I formatted my c drive and re-installed everything. Now things are working correctly. My conclusion is that Norton Systemworks screwed something up that I could never identify. If anyone has this program, make sure you enable the undo when you run Win Doctor.
