  1. I'm tired of doing simple edits using Adobe Premiere 6.5 as I have to spend a long time to render. Some kind person pointed me to use VirtualDub (1.5.2) to do cut and join AVIs. I can't get VirtualDub to load the AVI created by Premiere.

This is what the error says:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codecs to decompress video. DirectShow codes such as those used by Window Media Player are not compatible.

I'm a newbie. What does the above mean? Can someone tell me what to do please?

    Thanks,
    Halley, Singapore

  2. just like the error says, you need the codec installed. DirectShow filters that are on your computer can play the file, but you need the codec installed so vdub can open it.
dvsd is dv codec i'm not sure where to get it.

i would sugest you use VirtualDubmod.it has more support then regular VirtualDub http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/

  4. I had the exact same error message when I tried to edit a premiere capture in Virtualdub. I did a search on Google for DVSD codec and came up with a few free downloadable codecs I could install. I put one of them in and Virtualdub was then able to open the file

  5. Hi Zodiac, thanks for your reply. Could you please direct me to the site where the codec is located? Does it mean that you do not have to re-convert the Premiere captured avi file?

    Thanks,
