  1. Hi,

I'm fairly new to advanced/professional DVD authoring. What I need to know is how to capture video and audio to mp2 and mpv files or how to extract these files from an mpeg2 format. I've tried Dazzle's DVD Complete, but their demo hangs when I try to capture. I don't know of any other programs that can capture straight to mp2 and mpv.

I have an ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 7500 with all current drivers including DirectShow, running on Windows XP. The authoring program I'm using is Pinnacle's DVD Impression.

    I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks!

  2. I have an MSI TV@nywhere card. It captures straight to MPEG2 (Dvd format). When I demux the file through Tmpegnc I'm left with a MPV (Video) & MP2 (Audio) files. I think that's what you are shooting for.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  3. Hi...thanks for the reply. My capture card actually captures to mpg, but I just don't want to go through the time and hassle of extracting the mp2 and mpv files from it, especially when I'm working with 90 minutes of footage.

    I appreciate your input though.

  4. De-muxing is the only way I know of to convert from MPEG -> mpv + mp2. I don't know of any programs that capture in ES format (ie. seperate streams). However, it should only take 2min max to demux the file.

If you plan to edit the video prior to authoring, I would actually capture in avi/DV, edit, then encode to MPGE2. As editing MPEG2 video is a huge pain.
