I bought one and it works well at 4x. Also at the same site they have the Pioneer 105 4x DVD-R burner for $160.

I purchased the Panasonic burner from Avlogic because I wanted dvd-ram burning capabilities (own a Panasonic e-30). They delivered as promised. I used Pricewatch to find them and see that others have found them as well. Extremely reasonable prices for white box offers. No complaints.

I can top this....

Fry's had a one day sale locally (I think) with the Verbatim drive on sale for $149 less $30 mail in less $20 "bonus" mail in. Net Price was $99!

I have never seen a check-out line as long as the one today at lunch. No kidding....it was half a mile long snaking thru the store and almost out the entrance. They were saying there was a 45 minute wait to check out.
