I made perfect copies of the original dvd to dvd-r but when i try to make another copy of a copied dvd-r i can do it fine, but there is tons and tons of skipping on it. I dont know if its due to the dvd media that i am using? i'm using Khypermedia dvd-rs. i dont know what i am doing wrong. if anyone have a solution let me know! zabeman@msn.com

More than likely media, or the method you used to copy.
How did you copy? Don't bother with using a ripping program if it has already been copied before, just do a straight copy using Nero or whatever you use.
Otherwise, copy it from the (dodgy) DVD to hard disk and try playing from there with PowerDVD or something that will play from HD.
If it won't copy to HD at all, you have a definite media problem.
If it will and PowerDVD plays it fine, again, you most likely have a media problem, but your PC's DVD-ROM is more tolerant.
If it has a problem playing from HD, then I question again how you copied it.The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be. -
Not enough information, what program are you using to copy, what settings, etc. etc.
I would suggest using DVD Decrypter (freeware).
1) Run DVD Decrypter and choose "Mode | ISO - Read" to make an image file of your DVDR disc
2) Put in a blank disc and then choose "Mode | ISO - Write" to burn the image
I've never had this fail. -
thanks for your input guys. this is how I originally copied it....
I used DVD decrpyter to decrpyt all the files from the oringal dvd, then used ifoedit to split it into 2 dvdrs, then i still had the menus and i wanted to get rid of them, so i used dvd2one to compress it, and to get rid of the menus, and it workd fine when i burnd it using Recordnow DX at 2x.
and when i copied the dvdr to dvdr. i dvd decrpyterd it, then burnd it on 2x with recordnow dx. i'll try the straight copy dvd like how you said. -
aside from what has been mentioned, when they're troublesome I also use
IsoBUster to copy the raw files down.
Lastly, if that detects a bad sector, find a program called BadCopy Pro
It has been a life saver and will read through bad sectors....
Due to Nero and Princo, God knows I've needed the Bad Copy Pro~~~Spidey~~~
