  1. Don't mind me, I downloaded a copy of DVD Shrink the other day and was very excited about its potential until I discovered that I had to use DVD-R disks, I use DVD+R disks, bummer!

    Hi there,

I'm a little confused, DVD shrink will output to a folder writing out the VIDEO_TS contents, you just have to use something like imgtools (see www.doom9.org in the downloads section) to create an image file then you can burn that with whatever DVD burning software you have. DVD-R or DVD+R shouldnt matter as long as your DVD Player can read DVD+R media.

You may want to check the DVD compatibility list if you haven't already done so

You may also have some luck using Nero or similar in UDF 1.02 mode but it seems to vary, some members here swear by it whilst others swear AT it !

For me creating the image after I've checked the files with POWER DVD in files on HDD mode then burning that image with my DVD burning s/w ( Vivastar burning software ) seems to work fairly well.... ooooh I'm gonna pay for saying that

    Cheers

In My VAST experience ( actually only 12 movies ) using DVD shrink, all you need to do is to go to your DVD burning software - I use Nero and after selecting your DVD burner as the default burning drive, you then choose the DVD/Video or Movie option. I can't recall right now as I not at home. Once you do that nero with creat two black folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS on the left window. The right window is an explorer type display. You locate the folder your files were saved at with DVD shrink and just select them and drag them to the VIDEO_TS folder. That's all you have to do. No need to create "image files " of anything is required. Now burn your DVD disk. A full 4.7 DVD takes about 55 minutes + Leadout on my machine. Whatever you included during re authoring in DVD shrink will also be placed in the COPY, sorry BACKUP!!
I know there are many other progs out there but so far I have been able to copy just abot any disk using DVD Shrink and even at level 6 copression, I have a hard time finding fault with the resulting movie. At leas not on my 27 Pansonic regular TV. There are a few "Stubborn" movies out there such as Matrix and Independence Day that seems to give some trouble with this prog but I also think it gives some others trouble as well.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    Hi,

I did my last 5 movies with DVDShrink using only DVD+R discs /Verbatim/.
Burned them with RecordNow that came with the burner /Sony DRU500AX/.
For a free program and for the things it's a winner!

    Enjoy!
