    Whats up everyone, I have the latest version of DVDDecrypter and the problem is that when I rip the main movie to my hard drive and play it using PowerDVD I get no sound. I did not realize this until after I burned it to DVD. But when I sent it though DVD2ONE it had all of the different audio tracks for me to choose from. The sound is there when I play the original DVD through my DVD-Rom. Anyone know a solution to this, please reply.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE,

    SLICK RICK

  2. PowerDVD is not very reliable. I remade Cast Away 3 times before I played the movie on Windows media player. It was choppy but worked. I burned it and bingo, just fine.

    Other times I have checked on the VOB files to see if they have matching audio and video. It will play some in a set but others will just freeze up on.

    Just another note: I also ripped the movie with smartripper and got the same results. Video with no audio.

    Any suggestions. I dont think that it has anything to do with DVDDecrypter or Smart ripper, I think it must be a setting with windows xp that has to be changed.

  5. I believe it is a lack of Dolby Digital audio support by either Power DVD or your sound card.

    The sound on my backups never plays in Power DVD either, but works perfectly on my stand alone DVD player (which is the only place I would want to watch a DVD anyway)

    PowerDVD defaults to the 1st soundtrack which is 0x80 I think, so if it ain't there it won't play

    when you say you are playing it back in PowerDVD are you just playing the VOB's or actually selecting the IFO and running the DVD as you would in a standalone?

    if you are using the IFO what happens if you try to select another soundtrack while it's playing?

    how are you ripping the DVD, full or part and exactly how are you doing it?

    if you are just ripping the movie and one audio track you need to get it remap the auido stream 0x80 (default) but it sounds like you left it the same as the original DVD

    version20 if you have PowerDVD, why don't you upgrade to PowerDVD XP version 4.0?, it supports all the sound formats

    I am just trying to play the VOB's. And it is only newly ripped DVDs. A few that were already on my hard drive play fine including the sound.

    so when you are ripping them are you remapping the audio to 0x80?

    how many audio streams are you ripping?

    maybe your last version of DVDDecrypter had this remapping setup already but the new one isn't setup

    are you using stream processing?

    if so make sure when you rip it says Map to 0x80 in the box even if you pck another track

    that should do it

    in fact open the VTS_0x_0.IFO you have now and it will tell you what audio stream number it is in the bottom window

    @MackemX

    I have never had any of these problems before. How do I remap the audio to 0x80.

    ps. I really appreciate you helping me and hopefully we can solve this.

    @MakemX,

    Stream processing was not set, so I changed the setting to enable it and now I am ripping the main movie over again. Hopefully this was the problem. I will let you know in about 5 min.

    have a look HERE

    this is how I would do it

    notice how stream 0x81 I have now remapped to be 0x80

    is this the way you are ripping using the stream processing or are you ripping using file mode?

    do the same with the subs if you keep them

    @MackemX,

    Well that was it, the sound is there but I picked the wrong audio. I chose the Directors Commentary. So I am doing it again with the right audio, but it should work.

    THANKS,

    DOH, that way don't create the IFO's

    I would just use DVDToolbox to strip it out after ripping the files

    rip these files in File Mode as shown HERE

    then use DVDToolbox to rip out the streams you want and this will make a fully working DVD

    you could use DVDShrink direct from DVD but I've heard it's not so good with IFO's

    @MackemX,

    I dont know whats going on but when I did what you said and picked the wrong audio (directors commentary) it played fine with the sound. Then when I selected the Audio-AC3/6ch/English and remaped to 0x80, the final result "no sound".

    check your sound options

    that is strange cos you say it plays them fine from the original

    only other thing I can suggest is that you try the DVDToolbox way

    @MackemX,

    Ok, listen to this. This is so strange, I ripped the whole movie and all features play fine with sound except the main movie. I ripped it in file mode and ripped entire DVD.

    MackemX,

    It has to be something with that particular DVD (Behind Enemy Lines)
    because I ripped a different DVD and it played fine without changing any settings.

    I really appreciate all of your help, Thanks.

    couple more things to try

    try the DVD PLAY in Ifoedit and see if that has sound when you go through the sound menu option

    you could always try ripping it with DVDShrink but don't use any compression

    that may do the job cos maybe it's something to do with DVDDecrypter

    if it still don't work then it's the DVD, but if it does then it's DVDecrypter

    njoy
