    I depends,

For DV encoding I personally think Mainconcept is better. For DVD backups I think CCE is better - although I now use DVDShrink & DVD2One for DVD backups.

    Only my personal opinion tho.

I do a lot of encoding from my D8 tapes to MPEG-2 for DVD. Most of the time I was using CCE, but after I upgraded to Vegas 4+DVD and tried MainConcept MPEG-2 plugin for Vegas 4, I abandoned CCE. It makes better quality MPEG-2 videos from DV.

  5. Forgive a semi-newbie question...

I capture via Canopus/DVIO (DV Type II I believe) and I'm frameserving to CCE Basic. I want to stick with avisynth and frameserving because I like all of the options it gives me. When I frameserve, I'm basically delivering raw .avi- correct? Thus though I start with DV, I'm not actually encoding DV due to the frameserving therefore negating any superiority Mainconcept would have when handling DV.

Is this correct or am I totally off base? (Still trying to figure this whole thing out!!) Thanks in advance for any clarification!
