Ok, probably a dumb question, but hey? I'm a newB!

I created a an SVCD last night at home and was able to watch it off of my pc with no problem. I then stuck it into my home DVD player, and it also worked.

I brought the CD to work to show my buddies my first attempt at authoring, and none of the pc's can view it. What am I doing wrong or missing or both?

You need to make sure that the machines you are trying to play the CD in has the correct coded. Once the machine has the right codeds installed they can then display them

Yep, you must have a mpeg2 codec or a software dvd player installed like powerdvd or windvd.

ok, so if I install windvd - even though I dont have a dvd rom- it will install the correct codecs? I tried letting Real Player and Windows Media Player go and download the codecs, but neither could find one.

Lionheart is right, but the correct term is "codec." In this case, for SVCD, the required codec is an Mpeg2. PowerDvd and other S/W players have it as part of the package. You were using Media Player? Go to the Tools section and get the codec, put it on disk, install as required. 8)

zippyp and baldrik - thanks for the help! I installed windvd and it worked.

zippyp - I also followed your instructions on installing the codec from WMP to try it if I didn't have my windvd handy, and I couldn't believe how much they charge for codecs!! Nothings free huh??
