  1. Anyone know the difference between Ritek G03 and G04 media?
What experiences have you had with this media brand??

    TIA

  2. Not certain of the difference between the 2 but I have the G03's and on my Pioneer A04 they work great if you upgrade to firmware version 1.40 with the 2X hack. On any previous fw versions thier are freezing problems. The freezing problems happen with the G03's and a Tohsiba DVD-RW I have ( still need to find a fw update for it )

So, I guess it all depends on the DVD burner you have.

The G03's are the latest rev. of 1X burning with possiblitly of 2X burning depending on drive or firmware.
The G04's as far as I know are the 4X ones.

  6. Ritek G03 are 1x discs (or 2x with a hack). G04 are 4x discs.

I have always used Ritek discs in my pioneer 105, and i have never had a coaster. They also work perfectly in every player i have tried (and thats quite a few now) - even at 4x.

I basically cant recommend them enough. I guess the only downside is that the are a bit more pricey than other brands, but well worth it in my opionion.

  7. I have just switched to useing Ritek disc, following a bad experience with Princo.
My new question of this thread is, has anybody had trouble with labeling Ritek discs with a Sharpie marker?

    Thanks for your time.

  8. G04's are 4x disk , but if you have a Pioneer A03 or A04 they will record at 2x.

For the A03 you need firmware 2.00 (not hacked).

For the A04 you need firmware 1.40 (not hacked).

I personaly don't like using hacked firmware, so I could only get 1x from the G03's. I bought the G04's and now I can write at 2x.

You can find this information at http://www.ritek.com/ritek_e/product/storage/product/dvd-r.html

I used a sharpie to label my Riteks, not a problem so far. Now i print labels and stick them on there. To me Riteks are te way to go unless you can find Verbatim on sale.
