  1. Ok, I used to be able to load AC3 files and MPEG's with AC3 audio encoded in them in Windows Media Player for XP. It would down mix the audio to Stereo (6 channels to 2), but now when I open the files, I get no audio. Both MPEG's and AC3 individual files will not play any audio. I recently updated to Media Player 9 but this happened before that? What has happened?

I did updated some IE and Windows stuff on Windows Update ... it said that my sound card drivers needed updating ... but when I do that, my sound settings will not work, so I go to Creative.com and download their drivers and it fixes it ... but Windows Updates says they are outdated again and round and round we go...would that have something to do with it?

  2. Yeah I have found that windowsupdate for soundblaster drivers isnt
very reliable. I never accept that update.
As far as your ac3 problem, have you tried doing a system restore back
    to when it was working?

  3. I got it to work ... I loaded the DIVX pack or something ... it didn't work ... uninstalled it, and now it works.

BUT, when I author the AC3 to DVD (well, actually a CD-RW), it will will play the AC3 Video only on Prologic mode ... but when I load SPDIF Out, it is silent. All of my AC3 is silent unless its in standard Prologic mode.
