I am converting some TV show DVDs I own to AVIs for travel purposes (I will watch them then delete, no need for any fancy stuff).

I used DVD2AVI which gave me a video file (i used the xvid codec) and an AC3 or WAV file depending on which option I chose ( I mixed it up as I did a few episodes and chose different options).

So I can play the files individually but need to know how to either mux them together or use a player that can let me choose an audio file to play along with a video file.

As it took a while to encoded in the first place I was hoping not to have to go through more encoding to mux them together or can that be done creating a new file which simply combines them as opposed to reencodes them?

In the future is it better to use a wav or ac3 file for this purpose?? AC3 was smaller so if it works, better.

    Thanks

  2. MPC will play an AVI file and a WAV, or MP2/3 file together automatically if they have the same name.

You can mux them together with AviDemux or VirtualDubMod.

You could also use a different tool to create the files, such as AutoGK. In which case you can convert the audio to mp3 and save more space for video quality.
