Okay - I've read the Higgins out of this forum and the guides but cannot find a solution to my prob. A few weeks ago I ripped 3 dvd's to my hard drive with Smartripper. DVD's that I ripped were Jackass, 8 Mile and BarberShop.
Anyways I used Sefy's VCD guide as originally I planned to create VCD but have since bought a DVDRW drive. So now I have these 3 movies on my hard drive and would like to burn them on a DVD-R
In each of the cases all that was ripped to my hard drive were the VOB files and a single ifo file for each movie - No Bup files. The total volume for the Jackass and Barbershop files is under 4.7gb while 8 mile is more - so I'm gonna leave 8 mile out.
All these movies play fine off my hard drive using only WinDVD in File mode. So my question is what would be the easiest way to burn these movies to DVD-R WITH the files that I have already ripped. I know I should have used DVD decryptor but it is too late for that.

I use DVD2One to compress and make the movie ready. From there burn with Nero Express. This has been painless for me! Just follow the guides on this site!

Firstly I do not have DVD2ONE and I do not want to compress the movies as they should fit on a single DVD-R. The 2 that I am looking to burn are less than 4.7gb.
I really just need to know what I can do with the current filed I have on my hard drive.... Vob's and IFO without BUP. -
To burn them onto a DVD and have them be compatible, you'll need two different ifo files and two bup files. Get IfoEdit (it's free) and use that to make new ifo and bup files. People say it's pretty complicated to use, but I disagree. You should find all the guides you need to make the new ifos and bups on the IfoEdit home page. A google search should turn that up for you.

Hi,
First of all, The .BUP files aren't the problem. BUP Stands For BackUP. These are copies of the IFO files with the same name. So just rename like VTS_01_1.IFO to VTS_01_1.BUP and thats done...
What you do need is a valid VIDEO_TS.IFO (And .BUP) file. If you download dvdtoolbox from www.dvdtoolbox.de ( www.dvdtoolbox.de/Files/DVDToolbox.exe ) and select the dir where the .ifo and .vob files are, you can just click the "Create Videomanager (VIDEO_TS.IFO)" button and voila all done.
You can also find a good DVDToolbox guide here: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdtoolbox/
To resize you vob's to (maybe) fit on a DVD-R by removing unwanted streams. (Subs, Audio etc.)
Hope This Helps,

Thanks - that worked like a charm. I copied the ifo file and renamed the copy with a bup extension.
Now I have the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP as well. Quite a nifty little prog. I'll try it later to cut down on my larger DVD's.
Now what would you think is the best way to burn this? Do all these files have to be in a folder named Video_TS?
I have Nero 5.5.9.2 and DVD decryptor. In DVD decryptor can I just open the folder as my source even though I did not create an ISO image as in the guides? Then all I would have to do is select my burner and it will burn the files? -
DVD decryptor will only let me cburn from an image so I would have to use another prog

Is that Jackass: The Movie by chance?
I have tried to back-up this movie. I used DVDShrink and DVD2One, and both times I had trouble. When I tried to burn the new, resized title set, RecordNow Max says that only 200 MB of data are going to be burned.
Hopefully, I can find some solution...

Hi,
Theoratically Nero can burn DVD compliant dvd's, but i never got is to work. I use RecordMax. Works like a charm. Just start RecordMax select DATA from the top bar and add the VIDEO_TS (All cappital) and create/add an empty AUDIO_TS dir (for compatibility). If all your files are correct the map in front of the dir names changes with a music sign. Now just click burn and you have a FULLY, 100% compatible DVD !!

p.s. if you need/want a more detailed RecordMax DVD burn manual, just drop me a line. The difference between genius and insanity is only measured by success ! -
I also use RecordNow Max to burn everything (never did like Nero much). Jackass: The Movie is the only disc to give me problems. No matter what program I use for a full disc backup, I get the 200 MB of data problem.
RecordNow Max recognizes the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders as compliant, but when it comes time to burn, it says that only 200 MB of data will be burned. It's very weird.

Thanks for all advice. I was easily able to burn Jackass.
Used DVD toolbox to create the Video T_S file. I then used IMG Tool which is a cool little prog to create an image which I burned with DVD decryptor
The only problems I have encountered is that when I select 8 mile in IMG tool and click analyse it does not produce the output which would allow me to strip down the movie???
