  1. Hi,
Im new to this board, and I have been searching for a while to figure this out. I own a Region 2 dvd I purchased a while ago, and have not been able to watch it on my home DVD player. My DVD Player is region 1. I have an HP dvd-writer dvd100j

I know I need to convert the PAL encoding to NTSC and switch the region to region 1, but HOW do I do this? Any suggestions would help

  5. is it possible ---yes,,,
how---depends on your level and complexity you want to get into.

the easiest way would be to rip the contents of the dvd onto the harddrive
    (dvddecrypter or smartripper)
create a Project file (dvd2avi 1.76 for example)
and feed your video file or pseudo video file (*.d2v,,,file-save project) and your audio
(*.wav) into Tmpgenc (your encoder http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html - the free version has a 30 day mpg2 trial--after 30 days you'll need the Plus version to open mpg2 files) and select an NTSC vcd/svcd/dvd template {depending on what format you want, vcd or dvd}.
If its a dvd compliant mpg2 file to be authored onto dvdr's, then no cutting is involved. If you want vcd or svcd you'll have to use the mpgtools (file, MPEG Tools) to cut the file into halfs or thirds to fit xx number of cd's.

Follow the guides {https://www.videohelp.com/articles} if you run into hiccups.
