    I was looking at some DVD-RAM disks, and it said they were cheap because they did not come with cartidges. What do the cartridges do, and are they essential?

    Cartridges just protect the disc ...When its two sided, handling can be a bitch...No real need for them,though

    I own a Toshiba SD1111 DVD Ram drive
