  1. While I can burn a DVD+RW disc using Ulead Movie Factory 2 with HP200i DVD writer, I cannot burn a DVD+R disc. I have tried this 3 times and each time it gave this error message:DVD+R-SPTI-2A-02-04-91-C4. Does anybody know what this message means, or how to rectify the problem? Noticed that in the Advanced Settings prior to burning there is no indication that the DVD+R disc is recognized as the options are greyed out. With a DVD+RW the format is recognized and the options are available for selection.

I'm sure he has, as I did. However, there's something going on with the +R media and the hardware mfrs that us users haven't found out yet. The best I could get from Sony Tech Support re: why won't my DRU-500A burn +R media was that these (all mfrs?) burners were very sensitive to +R? media and the Sony will only burn Verbatim, Sony and Ricoh +/- media without coasters....I don't think so!!! Though advertised as a +/- media burner, most users I know of have reported settling for either +RW or -R(W) media of most kinds. Name brands and mostly Ritek on the econ end. I haven't been able to get this Sony to burn a +R of any brand. No, don't say it. Diskcheck says the DRU-500A is fine. I'm expecting my HP DVD 200x (class action suit replacement for the DVD 100i) any day now. Will see if the new 200x will burn +R media and make a post of the results. tuckin:

  4. Yes, I have now tried it 4 times altogether, and they all are now coasters. Three are Ritek and the last one is Imation DVD+R. The DVD+RW I have successfully burned are HP and Riteks. I have also successfully burned a Ritek DVD+R using Sonic MyDVD program which came with the HP 200i DVD Writer. I believe there is something wrong with the Ulead Movie Factory 2 software but I have not been able to find a Ulead site that has the error message.

  5. FWIW The Dru 500a Burns +R/RW & -R/RW for me. I have used Maxell, Verbatim, & Memorex in the +R Format, & Verbatim & Maxell & Aterra (DvdInfo says Princo) -R format, And Sony +RW and Maxell -RW formats with no problems.

The Aterra in a slimline are $12 for 10pack. The Verbatims are $89 for a 50 pack (bestbuy) and the Verbatimn +Rs are $2 each on spindles (bestbuy) Bestbuy 15pc spindle $29.99, 25 pc spindle $49.99 and 50 pc spindle $99.99.

Why Buy retail? So I can be sure I get em, I do not trust online vendors all that much. And so I can have instant gratification, IE Hold em in my grubby littlie hands right away, Just in time ordering in other words.

I do not know why but I was in the local Office (max or Depot) forget which one... they had KHypermedia at $99.99 for a 50 pc spindle. I said to myself they gotta be crazy, pay brand name prices for off brand.

    Cheers

  6. maybe u try restoring your computer. I had problems installing dvdmf2.0 and decided to clean out my entire C drive and now the program works. maybe something in your system is corrupt. but make sure u do a back up of your system first, if u decide to go that route.

  7. Ulead has a patch on their website for MF2. It's supposed to fix the problem with unsupported burners from the initial release...have you tried that yet?
