I recently downloaded a DivX DVD Rip of Armageddon and decided to convert it back to DVD, having had success with other such downloads.
I converted it to MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc+, then did the chapter authoring with Ulead DVD MoveiFactory 2. I also used this to create a DVD image (in .iso format - this seems to be the 'safest' for my setup).
I then used Prassi PrimoDVD to burn the image to DVD. When watching the DVD (which loaded and ran perfectly in my Lecson standalone), it got to about 3/4 of the way through the film and a chapter started 'locking' temporarily, with large corrupted blocks across the screen. The locks unlocked and the vision became jumpy - this was when the clicks, beeps and whistles started. I followed the same procedure as 5 other DVDs I'd written, so this should have been OK.
I decided perhaps the disk was at fault and re-burnt - same result, same place! Is it likely that Ulead DVD MovieFactory may have created the DVD image with these errors?
